		To celebrate the 80th birthday of Her Majesty The Queen, ten of the Royal Collection’s finest drawings by the Renaissance master Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519) will travel to four museums and galleries across the United Kingdom in 2006. The Royal Collection contains the world’s most important group of the artist’s drawings. 		These past fifty years have witnessed innumerable exhibitions on Leonardo, as well as the inauguration of museums dedicated exclusively to illustrating his most sensational inventions. But for very few exceptions, they have employed rigorous one-track approaches in handling the diverse areas in which he was involved: art, anatomy, the sciences, technology, etc. Moreover, the numerous exhibitions on Leonardo the inventor have been based on a strongly celebrative approach, decontextualised and rarely supported by an adequate scientific knowledge. Finally, they have often been accompanied by model reconstructions which are questionable, of little educational effectiveness, and conceived with the sole purpose of creating sensation, focusing on Leonard’s most pioneering intuitions .. >>>

Bratislavský hrad, ktorý je sídlom Slovenského národného múzea-Historického múzea, hostí od 28. 4. 2006 do 15. 9. 2006 vo svojich priestoroch jedinecnú výstavu Leonardo da Vinci, zvedavý génius. Výstava predstavuje unikátny Leonardov kódex – Codex Atlanticus, ktorý vydalo vydavatelstvo Hoepli v rokoch 1894 – 1904. Hlavné mesto Slovenskej republiky sa tak staloštvrtým miestom v jej európskom putovaní: po prvej európskej zastávke v Královskom paláci rakúskeho Innsbrucku, a po talianskych a madarských zastávkach v Ríme, v sídle univerzity Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei a v Budapešti v Knižnici Ervina Szabóa .. >>>

		Leonardo the Inventor Science and Technology in the Italian Renaissance Beijing, Museum of Natural History 20 May - 31 July 2006
		The Museum of Natural History in Beijing hosts, from May 20th to July 31st 2006, a special adaptation of the exhibiton Engineers of the Renaissance - from Brunelleschi to Leonardo, conceived of and realized by the Institute and Museum of the History of Science of Florence with initial financial support from Finmeccanica. The exhibition has been presented in prestigious venues (Paris, Florence, New York, London and Tokyo) and has been visited by almost two million people.It has been internationally acknowledged and critically acclaimed. The Beijing venue, under the title Leonardo the Inventor - Science and Technology in the Italian Renaissance, presents the whole section on Leonardo da Vinci together with a significant synthesis of the other two sections, devoted to Filippo Brunelleschi and the Sienese engineers Taccola and Francesco di Giorgio. The working models of “Leonardo’s Automobile” are also on display. The Beijing venue is promoted and funded by the Italian Ministry of Education, Universities and Research, General Direction for Research Coordination and Development, and by the Italian Ministry of Education, Universities and Research in collaboration with the Institute and Museum of the History of Science in the framework of The Year of Italy in China 2006 .. >>>

		"Leonardo da Vinci - Secrets of his creativity in art and science - From the Vinci Museum to Athens Concert Hall" Megaron Moussikis Athens From March 15 th to May 2006
		Leonardo da Vinci's secrets for the creation of his art and science from the baby walker to the flying sphere, the Medicean ring, the large shoot, the practicable dark room and the automated painter's studio will be at the centre of a great exhibit on this Renaissance genius at the Megaron Mousikis Concert Hall of Athens. 		"IL CODICE DI LEONARDO NEL CASTELLO SFORZESCO" Castello Sforzesco – Sala delle Asse Milano 24 marzo – 21 maggio 2006
		Milano custodisce un preziosissimo “Codice di Leonardo”, manoscritto databile al XV secolo. Si tratta del Libretto di appunti di Leonardo da Vinci noto come il “Codice Trivulziano”. L’Assessorato alla Cultura presenta una mostra in cui il Codice Trivulziano sarà esposto al pubblico per la prima volta nel contesto della produzione libraria, manoscritta e a stampa, della Milano sforzesca. Il Codice Trivulziano, che accoglie note e disegni realizzati dal sommo artista almeno tra il 1487 e il 1490, viene fatto inoltre oggetto di una nuova analisi filologica relativamente agli elenchi di vocaboli in esso contenuti (ottomila), preziosa testimonianza sul lessico dotto del tempo, e alle fonti utilizzate da Leonardo: le sue pagine saranno riprodotte in mostra una ad una e confrontate con i testi da lui consultati. Oltre alle liste lessicali, le pagine del Codice racchiudono spettacolari disegni e note tra i quali studi di caricature, studi per il Duomo di Milano, studi d’arte militare. Le pagine dell’originale di Leonardo, eccezionalmente esposto per due mesi, saranno visibili a rotazione .. >>>

		In portraits, religious and mythological works, and anatomical studies, Leonardo explored and reinterpreted the female figure. His own writings -including several passages on the proper ways to depict women and girls-help us interpret these artistic creations. The poses and body types in Leonardo's paintings and drawings, and the themes they address, had a major impact on Renaissance art. Previous studies have not considered these individual works as a group, though the importance of certain compositions, especially that of the Mona Lisa, has long been recognized. Several fascinating inventions, such as the pose of the Christ Child who rotates in the arms of his mother, or who plays with the young John the Baptist, have received little attention. These solutions, as interpreted in the paintings of Filippino Lippi, enjoyed great popularity. This attention of Leonardo to children and motherhood, found in several religious works, also informs his variations on the Leda. These creations were among the first to show a completely nude and uncovered female figure. The revolutionary representation the Standing Leda, with prominent and detailed musculature, reflects Leonardo's anatomical interests as well as his critical response to Michelangelo. These masters transformed the depiction of the female body in European art .. >>>

		Una Piazza per Leonardo Mimmo Paladino Vinci 19 marzo 2006
		Si inaugura il prossimo 19 marzo Piazza dei Guidi a Vinci ridisegnata da Mimmo Paladino. Un suggestivo intervento di riconfigurazione urbana che segna di fatto il nuovo accesso al Museo Leonardiano. L'intervento in Piazza dei Guidi si inserisce nel progetto di ampliamento del Museo Leonardiano che ha visto la recente apertura del nuovo ingresso e dei nuovi spazi espositivi nella sede di Palazzina Uzielli, a pochi centinaia di metri dal Castello dei Conti Guidi, finora sede unica del museo. A tale scopo il Comune di Vinci, in collaborazione con l'Associazione Arte Continua di San Gimignano nell'ambito del programma Arte all'Arte Rinascimento Nascimento, e con il co-finanziamento della Comunità Europea, ha indetto nel 2003 un concorso di idee per la realizzazione in Piazza dei Guidi di un’opera di alto valore artistico, capace di dialogare simbolicamente col museo stesso e con l’eredità di Leonardo a partire dalla contemporaneità. Il concorso, al quale hanno preso parte alcuni fra i maggiori protagonisti del panorama artistico internazionale contemporaneo, ha visto vincitore il progetto di Mimmo Paladino. L'intervento è ora realizzato e ha dato vita ad un nuovo spazio urbano, un'inedita e autonoma scenografia in linea con l’identità pubblica del luogo e con la figura artistica e scientifica del suo principale ispiratore, Leonardo da Vinci. L'artista, riconfigura la piazza con un reticolo di geometrie, con scomposizioni e ricomposizioni di piani in lastre di cardoso sui quali incide, con tasselli di vetro o lama d’argento, motivi che ripropongono il suo ben noto universo iconico. Vinci e la Toscana di Leonardo rendono così un omaggio del tutto inedito al XXI secolo, con un museo all’aperto che raccoglie spoglie ideali di un passato prestigioso per farne pietre vive di una nuova estetica architettonica .. >>>

		Leonardo da Vinci. Capolavori in mostra Biblioteca Reale Torino dal 10/02/2006 al 19/03/2006
		L'indiscusso protagonista della splendida mostra allestita nella Sala Leonardo della Biblioteca Reale è l'Autoritratto di Leonardo da Vinci, realizzato a sanguigna negli ultimi anni di vita dell'artista toscano, morto ad Amboise nel 1519. Il maestoso volto è attorniato da altri disegni: tra essi il Ritratto di fanciulla, riconducibile al volto dell'angelo nel dipinto della Vergine delle Rocce. Lo Studio preparatorio per la battaglia di Anghiari testimonia la precisione anatomica e la forza che Leonardo sapeva conferire al segno grafico, mentre i multiformi interessi del genio toscano sono documentati dallo studio delle proporzioni del volto e dell’occhio umano, dalle fantastiche, micidiali macchine da guerra, dalle indagini naturalistiche condotte sugli insetti e sugli arti dei cavalli, e, soprattutto, dal prezioso Codice sul volo degli uccelli, opera di straordinario valore scientifico, in cui Leonardo indaga i principi che regolano il movimento dei volatili al fine di realizzare la macchina volante. Concludono il percorso espositivo alcuni fogli di allievi e seguaci di Leonardo, tra i quali l'inedito profilo di vecchia, per la prima volta esposto al pubblico.. >>>

		Carlo Pedretti, professor of Leonardo's studies at UCLA, Los Angeles, and curator of the exhibition with Giovanni Morello, offers a world preview of four works by Leonardo and his pupils from international private collections: The Magdalene, by Leonardo and his pupil Giovan Pietro Rizzoli, also known as Il Giampietrino (?), another Magdalene by Il Giampietrino, a Saint John the Baptist, a version of the school of the Saint John now at the Louvre, and The Three Infant Saints by Bernardino De' Conti, an unusual and Gnostic painting of Jesus and His double. The exhibition of Ancona will also offer a chance of seeing one of the three versions of the Virgin of the Rocks, which belongs to a private collection, of which only the one in the Louvre, Paris, and the one in the National Gallery, London, are known. Other extremely valuable works will be exhibited along with them, such as Monna Vanna (Joconde nue Mackenzie) and the Madonna del Latte by Giampietrino. The prestigious group of works on display, composed of paintings, drawings, manuscripts and one of Leonardo's codes, explores with scientific accuracy the approach to pictorial philosophy of the Tuscan master and his school, with special reference to Leonardo's stay in the Marches in 1502, in the entourage of Cesare Borgia .. >>>
